Each installment of The 1% Club starts with a question that 90% of the nation correctly answered (depending on a sample of responses provided by 1000 people throughout Britain), then moves on to answer inquiries that progressively smaller percentages correctly answered, until it comes to that crucial controversy that only 1% of those surveyed knew.

Since it’s hard to predict what kinds of questions will be asked, it differs from other game shows in that competitors must apply common sense to advance to the final round. Typical questions about general knowledge are used in most quizzes; you either understand the answers or you don’t.

The rules of the game for season 2

One hundred competitors compete in The 1% Club, answering a series of questions with the chance to earn up to £100,000 if only one percent of the public correctly answers a particular topic.

Every episode begins with an inquiry that 90% of the nation’s residents correctly answer. The 100 competitors are then given the question, and those who get it right advance to the next round, while those who get it wrong get £1000 added to the reward pool.

Each round becomes increasingly challenging, going from a 90% to an 80%, a 50%, and finally a 1%. The $10,000 prize pool goes to the final candidate who successfully answers the one percent question.

ITV previews that the questions are “all about reason and common sense,” so regardless of your age—whether you’re 15 or 50—the entire family may participate in this quiz. “What is the first integer that, when written out, has its characters in alphabetic order?” is an illustration of a one percent quiz’s question. And the answer or response would be “40 to 50.”

All about the 1% Club Season 2 host

Lee Mack, an actor and broadcaster best known for his role in the sitcom Not Going Out, will return to anchor season 2 of The 1% Club. Mack has participated in a variety of panel discussions, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You?, QI, and Never Mind the Buzzco*cks. He has also previously co-hosted the shows Duck Quacks Don’t Echo and Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof.
