Fans Insinuate ‘AM Racing’ Curse as Dale Jr’s Former Star Faces Hailie Deegan’s Doom (2025)

A total of 12 race cars were involved in a big pile-up at the start of the Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In the very first lap, AJ Allmendinger tried to make an early pass but, in the process, he bumped Sam Mayer’s #1. Next thing you know, Mayer lost control of his race car, and multiple cars just wrecked into each other. The JRM driver was unable to proceed further with a wrecked-up race car.

Among those 12 cars was also Josh Berry, who was piloting the No. 15 AM Racing, and he sustained heavy damage. As soon as his car came to a halt after taking multiple hits, he put his safety net down, indicating that he was done for the day. AM Racing certainly isn’t having any luck after ditching Hailie Deegan from her full-time role. Even Cup Series drivers like Joey Logano and Josh Berry aren’t able to get this racing program back on track.

Sam Mayer wasn’t pleased at all to be put in a tough spot, three-wide at the start of the race. “We were three wide for no reason on the first lap. My teammate could’ve given me more grace and didn’t and the 16 kinda was tied to my door. Cutting out three wide in an Xfinity car on Indianapolis is not very smart to begin with. So frustrating for sure.” Mayer said this in an interview.

Josh Berry also reacted to his early elimination from the race, “👎 hate this for @AMRacingNASCAR & @KlutchSpirits. We had a solid practice and qualifying, unfortunately got caught up in the first lap spin.” The SHR driver shared this via his X account. AM Racing is going through turbulent times, and they just can’t seem to get themselves out of the slump.

Reacting to the early crash, fans were convinced that the team was just struck with bad luck. And won’t be able to shake it off even with the help of a seasoned race car driver.

Fans are convinced that AM Racing is cursed after witnessing Josh Berry’s early exit

The No. 15 car wasn’t able to fire off when Hailey Deegan was behind the wheel. Wrecks, crashes, and DNF finishes sort of became a regular theme. However, despite ejecting Deegan from the seat, their results aren’t impressive either. Rather, they are back to being heckled and taken out of commission. Seeing this sight, fans only had one explanation behind the team’s torrid run, AM racing is cursed.

Berry is a seasoned race car driver, especially in the Xfinity Series. In his two-year stint at JRM, he was able to clinch three wins and was competing for wins every week. However, his mojo could not work its charm with AM Racing, which just cannot catch a good break. Reacting to this trend of dismal results, this fan wrote, “That 15 is just bad luck.”

Before the SHR driver piloted the #15 car, Joey Logano piloted the car at Pocono to its season-best P8 finish. This was supposed to be the turning point for AM Racing, but they spiraled back to being themselves and unlucky. Reflecting on Logano’s result with the team at Tricky Triangle, this fan opined, “that 15 car is the problem logano was just immune to its curse.”

This fan even sends out warning signs for drivers who are expecting to drive the race car for the rest of the season. Highlighting, how the bad vibe with this race team would lead to a sour end to their plans of finishing the season on a high, “No one is safe from the 15 car.”

Some fans even saw this as an opportunity to question AM Racing’s decision to sack Deegan from the ride. Highlighting how a mediocre racing program expects the drivers to deliver top finishes, “Looks like the same result for the 15. Just waiting for someone to blame it on the driver.”

AM Racing and the 15-car team need to churn out positive results. Because at this rate, they certainly won’t be hitting their markers and objectives for the 2024 season.
