MILLERSBURG — Beaver Local junior John Wilson and East Liverpool sophom*ore Kailynn Kirby leaped to victory at the Millersburg Division II district track and field meet Tuesday.
Both jumped to district titles at West Holmes High School.
Wilson leaped 21-feet-2 1/2 to capture the boys high jump, while Kirby won the girls high jump by clearing 5-foot-0.
The top four finishers in each event advance to the Muskingum University regional meet on May 23 and 25.
Other regional qualifiers include East Liverpool’s boys 3200-meter relay team of Brody Vulgamore, Quintin Conrad, Maddox Roach and Julius Jones was second (8:20.49); Beaver Local junior Jocelyn Pomeroy was second in the girls high jump (5-0); and East Liverpool senior Makyah Newlun was third in the girls shot put (33-9 1/4).
The district meet concludes Friday with the remaining field events at 4 p.m. and the running finals at 5 p.m.
